Nonverbal Communication

My husband and I started work out at the gym together since November, 2016. We have been keeping up. When we use the weight resistant machines, he sets the height of the bench and the desired weight for him. On most of the machines, he lifts, pushes, or pulls 200 pounds. I only do 20 to 30 pounds with most of the machines, and have the bench a lot higher because I am short. Well, I’m not really doing muscle building. It’s just exercise for me.

We take turns to do two sets of 16 counts on each machine. After his set, he adjusts the height of the bench and weight for me. Anyway, this morning, he forgot to do the adjustment on one machine. I tried to push with both arms, but it didn’t make a move. I looked up at him and chuckled. He stared at me for a couple seconds, and got it.

I think I’m spoiled.

Daily Prompt: Chuckle

Squatting Positions

Daily Prompt: Squat

Due to the chronic swelling of my legs and thighs, I’ve gone through physical therapy a few cycles. Part of my exercise is squatting. When I had the personal training at the gym, interestingly, it started with squatting. Therefore, I have been doing squatting for many years. The benefit shows on the bone scan. My hip bone scored 110% compared to women of similar age. I asked further how to interpret the score. The doctor said that my hip bone was strong and was equivalent to a young adult. It was less lightly that I would fall due to the strength of the hip bone.

It was a great encouragement for me to continue doing yoga, in addition to other exercises.

Cee’s Share Your World – 01/09/2017

Questions for this week’s Cee’s Share Your World are not easy ones, but I will try my best to answer them.

1. If you lost a bet and had to dye your hair a color of the rainbow for a week, what color would it be?

This is a hard question for me. I like my hair as it is. Well, if I lost a bet, then I had to do it. Okay, I would color my hair from dark purple and gradually to a lighter purple at the lower portion. I do have a lot of purple and lavender colors of clothing to match with the hair color.

2. If you could choose one word to focus on for 2017, what would it be?

My choice of word would be “Optimism.” I am an optimistic person, but the focus would be consistent in all circumstances.

3. What was one thing you learned last year that you added to your life?

What I learned was to be happy with my “new normal,” not to let the lymphedema (swelling) of my leg keep me from being active.

4. If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit other than a cherry would you be..?

I would like to be an apple. There are many kinds of apple, and I chose to be a red delicious apple because I like the dark red color and the shape of the apple.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

My husband’s birthday was last week, but he got a cold. He lost the senses of smell and taste. I’m grateful that it didn’t get any worse. He is getting better. I’m looking forward to this new week because holidays are over; my husband and I are back on our workout routine.
