Tuesday Photo Challenge – Abandoned

We took a trip to North Carolina at the tail end of Hurricane Rita. That was the Hurricane right after Hurricane Katrina. When we got there, the hotel which had our booking had leaking and flooding damage. The owner recommended that we drove at least seven miles inland before trying to find another hotel. During our cruising up and down, we saw a lot of abandoned boats. I could image that with two hurricanes, boats got toasted up and down the waves. They were banged against the shore again and again. These boats might have reached to a point of no return, thus got abandoned.abandoned-boat-1

  1. I found the first photo especially haunting. There’s just something very eerie about abandoned buildings and structures in general – hence the universal sense of apprehension evoked by ghost ships in many parts of the world. But some of those boats also look very forlorn being marooned on land.
